So what are the four C’s?

1. Confidence

The first C is confidence. The facilities management service provider that you’ve chosen should know what they’re doing, when they should do it, what the deliverables are, and also be confident enough to know the level of service they provide.

Confidence is key for a lot of purposes. If the facilities management service provider does not exude confidence in themselves, then it might not be worth the effort to hire them. However, there is a thin line between confidence and overconfidence, which is also undesirable.

2. Communication

Another key C to look out for is communication. The speed and satisfaction at which the service provider addresses your concerns or queries is very important for assurance of good service. Also, being disconnected from tasks being undertaken at your facility is unacceptable.

The service should communicate any undertakings to you clearly and concisely, and also be able to relay their expectations. Communication is a two way street as well, so you should also effectively and precisely communicate your expectations and desires to them.

3. Cost

The cost of a good facilities management service might be a bit on the high side, but the important factor to consider is if you’re getting adequate value for money from the service that you’ve hired. High cost and low delivery service providers are more of a hindrance than a help.

You should be also upfront and clear about your expectations from the service provider. And the service provider should be professional enough to fulfill the expectations in the time specified.

4. Consistency

All facilities management service providers provide some kind of guarantee or the other. Are they fulfilling the guarantee that they stated, each and every time?

Process-oriented service providers are usually a lot more consistent than goal-oriented services, since they have a set process for any task they undertake.

Availing a consistent service provider is of utmost importance, because services that degrade with time will be hard-to-detect and non-beneficial in the wrong term. Make sure that your service provider updates you with their undertakings and results regularly, don’t just take their word for it.
